Hi Addison, and good question. Firstly regarding the trilogy laserdisc box set, I would suggest Ebay, as this format is now finished (apart from collectors) sets like this can often be picked up at a very good price. Let me know how you got on?

The Second part of your question is a good point. As far as I recall, I do not think there was ever a U.S. release soundtrack for FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE, actually I don't think there was a dedicated album released anywhere at the time of its release, unlike A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS. What was released at the time was an Album that featured the full U.S. artwork and called FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE AND OTHER MOVIE THEMES and was released by United Artists in 1967 (United Artists UAS 6608)
The LP Featured:
1. For A Few Dollars More (02:57)

2. Sixty Seconds To What (02:01)

3. The Vice Of Killing (02:26)

4. Aces High (03:05)

5. Goodbye Colonel (03:15)

6. Finale (03:31)

7. A Fistful Of Dollars (02:05)
(From the United Artists Motion Picture "A Fistful of Dollars")
8. Theme From "Zorba the Greek" (02:10)
(From the United Artists Motion Picture "Zorba the Greek")
9. Topkapi (02:10)
(From the United Artists Motion Picture "Topkapi")
10. Viva Maria (02:21)
(From the United Artists Motion Picture "Viva Maria")
11. Theme From "The Train" (02:28)
(From the United Artists Motion Picture "The Train")
12. Tom Jones (02:26)
(From Tony Richardson's Production "Tom Jones"

with a total running time of 30.55
This album featured the FAFDM tracks but these were by Leroy Holmes and his Orchestra (who were great in their own way), but were no Morricone. These FAFDM tracks by Morricone, began to emerge in various forms on a worldwide basis in the 1970's when they were doubled up with the music of Fistful of Dollars. Later of course a dedicated CD was released of the full FAFDM soundtrack.
I will post the Leroy Holmes LP on the main page now.
Thanks for your question

Thanks you very much TCEA,
Your info has led me to the conclusion that the only way the get the full soundtrack of FAFDM is with the CD Release.

So that leads me to assume the earliest record with songs from FAFDM that are composed by Ennio would be from the 1970 Combo FOD and FAFDM on RCA.

Thank you very much for the help with this, and I know where to go now if I EVER need something to do with the awesome Clint Eastwood.
You have the MOST passion for this and it really shows with your site.

Thanks with much gratitude,
Addison

The only American release I know of for the soundtracks of A Fistful of Dollars and For A Few Dollars More is the RCA CD comp "Legendary Italian Westerns by Ennio Morricone" It is available relatively cheaply on the internet. It has the main themes from both albums. The Good Bad and Ugly soundtrack remains with EMI (formerly United Artists).

Back in the day, when For A Few Dollars More was issued, it is assumed they had the US rights to the soundtrack album, but RCA owned the actual recordings. Therefore it was necessary to have Leroy Holmes, an United Artists staffer) to record the "soundtrack scores" for the album on United Artists. By the time The Good Bad and Ugly came out, the soundtrack release in the US clearly belonged to United Artists.

HitRecordsofNashville - that's a wonderful insight thanks so much for taking the time to add to this post, very interesting. Do you know what? I still don't have a copy of that Leroy Holmes For a Few Dollars More LP (Sad but true). Thanks again Buddy.

I've since got the Leroy Holmes LP

The Leroy Holmes is actually a good album, which I bought when the film For A Few Dollars More was in the theaters. The album was "announced" as available in the film's United Artists press book sent to theaters, where I had a part-time job. The album was available briefly as a digital download on Amazon and other services.

The first album you posted by Hugo Montenegro was a best seller in the USA and the hit single version. The original USA album was the same as the European one you posted only it did not have 'Hang'em High" as that film had not been made when the album came out.

The 45rpm single was issued on RCA Victor 47-9423 - The Good, The Bad And The Ugly (Morricone) by Hugo Montenegro, his Orchestra and Chorus, produced by Neely Plumb
