He is one of Hollywood's most legendary hard men.

And Clint Eastwood was looking awesome at 84 as he attended the premiere of his latest movie Jersey Boys at the Angelo Galasso store in New York City on Monday. The Coogans Bluff star looked buff for his age as he sauntered in for the screening, which boasted a lavish dinner among the festivities.

Clint, who directed the musical drama, looked sharp in an elegant black suit, white shirt, tie and smart leather shoes. But the Dirty Harry favourite made sure he added a macho edge to his image by wearing a trendy beard. No doubt Italian menswear designer Angelo Galasso would have complimented the star on his look as they posed together with the cast of the film.

A host of other big names turned out for the event too, including music impresario Clive Davis, chat show doyen Barbera Walters and legendary actor Christopher Walken, who plays gangster Gyp DeCarlo in the film.

The X-Men film favourite Alan Cumming and Broadway stars Lena Hall, Renee Marino and Montego Glover were among the other attendees. Based on the musical of the same name, the biopic tells the story of four young men who came together to form popular sixties rock group The Four Seasons. 

The film was a passion project for music fan Clint, who said: 'What was fun for me is that it’s about musicians, much as Bird (his 1988 film about Charlie Parker) was about a jazz player.        

'The Four Seasons had all these hit songs, but they were juvenile delinquents! They were just guys from the neighbourhood, a place where, if you were a singer, you were looked down upon as strange, unless you were Sinatra.'

He brought his power to bear to get the movie made after a previous attempt at making the film had stalled. The Pale Rider star revealed: 'I said, "How come you’re not doing this picture? I think it’s terrific. I tried to appeal to them on a capitalistic basis.” He cast most of the major roles from various stage productions and, working in his famously fast way, “we just had a good time.”
