American Sniper New International One Sheet poster and two new pictures

Warner Bros have released the latest poster design for Eastwood's upcoming film American Sniper. Whilst it is described as the 'international' one sheet, it is clearly still a teaser design with the 'coming soon' text tagged onto the bottom. Anyway, it's a rather nice design and appears to do its job very well. There have also been a couple of new photos released which I have included below. Expectations are high on this one, and I'm really looking forward to seeing it.

Two Rare U.S. Documentaries found on DVD... in Japan!

My friend in Japan Philip McLean contacted me recently, like any serious film fan; he enjoys searching through back street shops in order to perhaps find a little treasure or two. Luck was in last week when Philip sent me a message containing a photo of a DVD case, which was very new to me. At just ¥480 (approx £2.77) Philip took the plunge. Turns out there were two documentaries on the disc, 'Hollywood Remembers: Clint Eastwood'. As Philip explained:
'There are two separate episodes in what was clearly a series for TV broadcast focusing on the stars. The quality of clips is poor at times, some material is repeated over both shows and oddly the chronology does jump about between movies, without explanation. Anyway, it’s an interesting overview and find. You never know what'll pop up do you?'
In deed you don't! There's certainly something really nice about seeing these trailers, transferred directly from a film source, complete with dust, spots and tram line scratches - rather than pristine transfers. As I said to Philip, it's much like revisiting them back in the days of those glorious old flea pits!

Anyway, I really appreciate the copy Philip and it was a fabulous 50mins. Philip was kind enough to also send me full scans, so I have posted them here, should the DVD ever raise its head on eBay...

AMERICAN SNIPER Trailer #1 & US 1 Sheet poster (2014)

Great to see Warner Bros have wasted little time in releasing this teaser trailer for Clint's new film American Sniper. In cinema's December 25th 2014, UK release January 16th 2015.

From director Clint Eastwood comes “American Sniper,” starring Bradley Cooper as Chris Kyle, the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history.  But there was much more to him than his skill as a sharpshooter.

U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle is sent to Iraq with only one mission: to protect his brothers-in-arms.  His pinpoint accuracy saves countless lives on the battlefield and, as stories of his courageous exploits spread, he earns the nickname “Legend.”  However, his reputation is also growing behind enemy lines, putting a price on his head and making him a prime target of insurgents.  He is also facing a different kind of battle on the home front: striving to be a good husband and father from halfway around the world.
Despite the danger, as well as the toll on his family at home, Chris serves through four harrowing tours of duty in Iraq, personifying the SEAL creed to “leave no man behind.”  But upon returning to his wife, Taya Renae Kyle (Sienna Miller), and kids, Chris finds that it is the war he can’t leave behind.

A two-time Oscar nominee for his work in “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Hustle,” Cooper heads the cast, which also includes Sienna Miller (HBO’s “The Girl”), Jake McDorman, Luke Grimes, Navid Negahban and Keir O’Donnell.

Oscar-winning filmmaker Clint Eastwood (“Million Dollar Baby,” “Unforgiven”) is directing “American Sniper” from a screenplay written by Jason Hall, based on the book by Chris Kyle, with Scott McEwan.  The autobiography was a runaway bestseller, spending 18 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, 13 of those at number one.
