Clint 1955-63 Time off with Maggie, with Friends and at Home...

Here's a nice area I wanted to get up and running. It focuses on the more private side of Clint, between the approximate years of 1955 to 1963. Naturally, between this time Clint was also making Rawhide, up until 1966 in fact. But I have purposely tried to stay away from Rawhide in this particular section as I would like to make a dedicated area for all things Rawhide in the future. This section is dedicated to the time spent with Maggie, his home life and the vacations spent together between shooting schedules. It was also a period of the movie 'bit parts' in terms of Clint's career, which again, I have tried to steer clear from as I will probably create a dedicated section to include all film parts between Revenge of the Creature (1955) and Lafayette Escadrille (1958)
This particular section created itself actually. On reflection and through the years of collecting, it's quite amazing just how many images from this fun period began to surface and as a result, provides a rather unique and fascinating look at these early graduating years...

Opening this section, here's a really nice collection of Clint and his then wife Maggie, together in the Eastwood household..

Below: This was also a period where Clint actually ventured into a singing career!

Below: Clint had always been into music from an early age, a great shot of Clint relaxing at home and catching up on some of his favourite albums, taken October 1st 1959.

Below: Pets have always been a feature of Clint's home life

Below: 4 Wonderful photos of Clint and Maggie Eastwood taking the bikes for a spin!

Below: Here's 3 nice pictures of both Clint and Maggie enjoying a trip to San Francisco

Below: Some great colour shots of Clint relaxing at home

Below: Clint in the pool at home Oct 25th 1962

Below: A few great photos from those 'great sweater' days!

Below: From digging them to enjoying them! Clint now had the chance to enjoy his own pool rather then digging them for someone else.

Below: Clint at the Pool again, but does anyone know the name of the girl?

Below: Clint enjoying some Holiday time

Below: 2 studio portrait shots, probably for Universal and circa 1956

Below: A nice collection of photos, these are from 1956, June 1st 1956 in fact. It appears that Clint is seen wearing the same sweater in both the above and below picture. Which could date the above photo also as June 1st. It's not unrealistic to assume that these were all taken by the Universal publicity department on the same photo shoot.

Below: A couple of shots of Clint and Maggie out for an evening, the first was taken during their wedding anniversary and below that, a photo taken with entertainer Johnny Mathis.

Below: Clint tries his luck on the slots

Below: Not sure of the story behind this photo featuring Clint and Maggie? Clint has won something, but the event remains a mystery, any ideas anyone?

Below: A rare collection of photos featuring Clint and Eric Fleming while on a fishing trip in 1963

Below: Some nice publicity shots, the first colour photo is from 1960 while the 2 bw photos were taken the following year.

Below: Another Publicity photo taken in the early 1960's. There are a few variations that have been used from this photo shoot, including the one used below for Clint's record sleeve.

Below: You shouldn't play with guns... Yeah right!

Below: Clint at home on the piano

Below: Keeping in shape at the gym

Below: Clint and Maggie during a vacation

Below: Clint relaxes with a round of golf

Below: Two shots of Clint while at Universal Studios

Below: Early Eastwood publicity shots
Below: Clint Eastwood with Photographer Duane Michals, probably taken in the 60s.

Below Clint and Maggie probably early 1960s

I don't think that all those photographs are from the 1955-1963 period, especially some of the later ones.

Hi Anon,
Thanks for your comment. And yes, you may be right. Sometimes it is hard to identify a specific date. Taking that into account, I sometimes have to post photos (such as some of these) in an area where I think they can be displayed best. Of course, if you know the dates of certain photos, please leave a comment. I do rely on the help of others from time to time. Thanks again.

I love your site. Years ago I saw a documentary about Clint Eastwood's life. They had a wonderful panoramic of his extended family (lots of people) and I was struck by how, although sitting in a row near the back and not in the center, he just amazingly stood out. An absolutely gorgeous man.

Awesome pictures of Clint Eastwood. I've seen some early pics over the years of Clint Eastwood, but not as many as I've seen on this website. Handsome looking man. He's still a handsome looking man today, at age 84! The earliest movies I've seen him in were the spaghetti westerns Fistful of Dollars, A Few Dollars More, and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. My favourite movie Clint Eastwood movie to date is Gran Torino.

Loved him since i wS old enough to watch watch Rawhide. Rowdy and Wishbone were my favorite characters. I was devastated when the show ended. Then came The Man With No Name movies. He was and still is gorgeous hunk of a man. Who oozed maschismo sexuality and mystique like the characters he portrayed. A womanizer, yes, but boy I wouldn't have kicked out of my bed either. ;)

Hi Darren, some members of the CABE (Classic and Antique Bicycle Exchange) have been discussing the photos of the bikes that Clint and Maggie are riding. In particular, we're having trouble identifying the make and model of Clint's bike. It appears to have an aftermarket goose neck and handlebars. Is it possible to get hi-res copies of these images? Of course, we are happy to credit you as the source. Thanks, John

I had the great pleasure to 'meet' Clint once. It was mid 90's, at Pebble Beach golf club. I was there for a conference and waiting in a lobby, reading a book. He walked down the hall, wearing a baseball cap. He must be used to women gazing starry-eyed at him. I was grinning ear to ear, and as he walked past me with a twinkle in his eye, he nodded his head at me and I nodded back. For a minute I was transported to a dusty town in the wild west. (Dreamy sigh.)
