When in Rome… The return visit. Spaghetti & Skateboarding in 1965
After the huge success of A Fistful of Dollars, Clint returned to Rome in 1965 to make its sequel For a few Dollars More. It was during this time that Clint was photographed by Elio Sorci while he was skateboarding on Via Veneto, one of the most famous, elegant and expensive streets of Rome, Italy.
Clint was also captured by Sorci (1932-2013) while appropriately enough; he took time out for a Spaghetti lunch. Sorci was one of the world's first paparazzi. He captured the spirit of La Dolce Vita with his pictures of Italian and international celebrities in Rome during the 1950s and 1960s.
Some of the targets of his lens also included Claudia Cardinale doing the housework, Anita Ekberg at the wheel of her car and Audrey Hepburn walking her dog.
A couple of pictures of Clint practising his practical skills on the skateboard appear here and there on the internet, but I thought I’d bring what is currently available all together under one roof here and include his photo of Clint dinning Al Fresco style.
