The Gauntlet unseen

The Gauntlet unseen
Every once in a while, fans often send in some photos or images that really take my breath away. They might not often be of the greatest quality, but the content occasionally delivers the ‘wow’ factor - such as these shots from The Gauntlet proved. As mentioned, sometimes these images are in pretty poor shape, some of these candid shots were in fact in colour, however, the colour was so badly faded and contained a terribly heavy blue tint, I had to strip them right back in  order to show them at their best and in the clearest detail. Infact, converting them to monochrome produced far better results in terms of clarity and for their preservation.
What can’t be denied is their content, some incredible on location shots, in Arizona which feature Clint with cast and crew group shots, and a cracking shot of Clint and Sondra during the biker gang scene. But perhaps strangest of all, there are two very unusual shots which appear to show Clint engraving (or etching) his autograph or perhaps something else, into the hood of a vehicle! We can only guess what was going on here? Perhaps it was by request from one of the locals or one of the extras who turned up on that particular day? I suppose we can only guess. But they are certainly fascinating. I will of course be adding these to the dedicated The Gauntlet page, but I could not pass up the opportunity of presenting them without a new post of their own. Just fabulous stuff.
Below: Would you mind signing here Mr Eastwood?

Eastwood "autographed" some of the surplus police cars bought for The Gauntlet. They were then sold or auctioned off. There are classified ads out there for someone sellig one of the cars.

I'm writing a short little book on The Gauntlet and would love permsission to use one of these candid shots of Clint and the crew/cops. Who do I ask?

Thanks a lot. Toby Roan

Hey Toby, we've traded before! Still have some of your Laserdiscs and DVD's. I don't own any of these shots mate, they were sent to me with a very faded colour, I decided to clean them a bit and thought they looked far better in b/w. A book on The Gauntlet would be fantastic, please keep me informed by leaving a message here, I can view it without publishing it.
Hope you are keeping well.

Good to hear from your Darren. Thanks for getting back to me.

The Gauntlet is just of those movies that has always fascinated me and I decided it might be fun to research and write a little book on it. Your site's been a great resource. Should have a draft completed in a couple weeks. I'll let you know all the particulars as it gets a bit closer.

Thanks for this site. Where Eagles Dare is my all-time favorite film, has been since I first saw it when I was 9. I browse the Eagles pages quite often!

Take care, Toby

Now that I think of it, Darren, a few more things —

I need your last name so I can thank you in the book.

FYI, I'm using some of your stuff about Marneen Fields.

Those un-used ad layouts and stuff that you have on the site, is there anything preventing me from using those?

Lastly, I have lots of newspaper articles and stuff that I have dredged up for this project. Would you like them for the site? I'd love to share them with other fans of the film.
