Calculating a Night with Clint!
Here’s a nice original advertisement which was sent to me this morning by our U.S. correspondent Kevin Walsh. We had one similar to this design on our Good, the Bad and the Ugly page – a mammoth all night showing which featured all 3 dollar films and Hang ‘em high – a pleasure fest for the mind, if somewhat challenging for the backside!
This new one found by Kevin appears to have dropped For a Few Dollars More from the bill. The ad still proclaims that these were Clint’s ‘3 greatest hits’ – even though a great deal of fans still regard For a Few Dollars More as the best film in the original trilogy, and especially superior to Hang ‘em high.
I thought it was good of the promoter to give us a complete running time (in seconds!) – an amusing little touch. By their calculations the 3 movies amounted to 22,260 seconds. I somehow made it 21,660 seconds (but then again, I need to get out more).
So, while the triple bill didn’t perhaps offer the same value as the quadrilogy of movies – think of it as a blessing, and a saving of some 7,920 seconds – if anything, I’m guessing that your arse would’ve been eternally grateful!
A nice rare advertisement, which I can only guess came from around 1969-70. My thanks to Kevin.
